Erik van Huyssteen
Erik obtained BA and LLB degrees from the University of Stellenbosch and graduated in 1993. He was admitted as an attorney in 1996 and thereafter practiced as a director and partner respectively at two prominent Durban based law firms. He commenced practicing for his own account as EVH Inc. Attorneys in the March of 2020.
Erik’s areas of expertise include Corporate and Commercial Work; General and Commercial Litigation; Insolvency, Business Rescue and Restructuring and Insurance Law. He represents a wide range of local and international corporate clients in a variety of industries, including automotive parts and accessories, clearing and forwarding, customs and excise, finance and insurance, steel and manufacturing, hospitality, building and construction, paper and forestry and health and wellness.
With almost 30 years of legal experience, Erik has established himself as a respected authority in the legal field. Known for his unwavering dedication and passion for law, he has built a reputation for consistently achieving exceptional results for his clients. He believes that every case deserves meticulous attention and a tailored approach, ensuring that his clients receive not only expert legal representation but also compassionate support throughout their journey. Wendy van Huyssteen
At the heart of our firm’s operations is Wendy, our Business Manager. She comes with over 22 years of experience in the legal industry and is not only the driving force behind the seamless functioning of our day-to-day activities but is also responsible for our financial management, social media presence, marketing and human resources. Her meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence make her a cornerstone of our team.
Wendy’s perfectionist nature ensures that every aspect of the firm operates at its highest standard. Her dedication to her roles shines through in every project she undertakes, whether it’s managing budgets, crafting engaging social media content, organising events or fostering a positive workplace culture. Nikhil Mahadeo
Nikhil completed his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Howard College in 2020, laying the foundation for a promising career in law. He subsequently joined EVH Inc. Attorneys in 2021, commencing his articles and rapidly progressing to Associate upon admission as an attorney.
Nikhil’s passion for law, fostered during his academic tenure, continues to drive his expertise in specialized areas. His dedication to delivering innovative and effective legal solutions for clients is underpinned by his commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.
Guided by a strong work ethic and disciplined approach, Nikhil embodies the values of integrity, determination, and hard work. As a valued member of our team, he is devoted to providing exceptional legal support, counsel, and representation to our clients.
Tia Caprice Govender
Tia completed her Batchelor of Laws Degree (LLB) at Varsity College Westville in 2023 and joined EVH Inc. Attorneys as a candidate attorney in 2024.
Tia is a well-rounded individual. As a student she held various leadership positions and participated in several community outreach programs.
She has made a significant impact since joining the firm with her eagerness and willingness to learn and grow alongside the team! We’re excited to highlight her contributions and can’t wait to see what she achieves next.
Sarah Kathryn Thomas
Sarah completed her Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) at Varsity College Durban in 2024 and joined EVH Inc. Attorneys as a candidate attorney in 2025.
Sarah has a passion to practice law with integrity and ethical values. She is driven by the mantra that success is achieved through hard work, determination and perseverance. She is opposed to any form of prejudice towards humankind and believes all should be treated equally before the law.
